Founders Fellowship Committee Roles and Responsibilities
The Founders Fellowship Committee helps run the Founders Fellowship Program, designed to diversify the membership of Impact100 Philadelphia by encouraging young women to learn about philanthropy, the power of collective giving, and critical issues that affect the Philadelphia region.
Brief Program Summary: The Founders Fellowship is available to women between the ages of 25 and 35 who are interested in addressing the vital needs of our community through the collective giving, grant-making movement and who will bring a diverse perspective to Impact100 Philadelphia’s process. Preference is given to women who do not have a familial connection with Impact100 Philadelphia members and who lack the financial resources that would enable them to join. The annual membership contribution is waived for Founders Fellows.
Fellows enjoy full membership benefits, including the opportunity to learn how to evaluate grant proposals and award grants. They learn about the work being done by Philadelphia-area nonprofits and the challenges they face. Fellows network with and are mentored by a diverse group of women.
Criteria for applicants for Founders Fellowships include a demonstrated commitment to improving lives in their communities through work, volunteerism, or study. Only residents of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania or Camden County in New Jersey who are between 25 and 35 years of age are eligible.
Responsibilities of Founders Fellows include attendance at an orientation to and re-cap meeting at the end of the grant process. They are required to join a Focus Area Committee, which entails three meetings during the spring of each year; attend the Annual Meeting in June; contribute to a project or program of Impact100 Philadelphia; and attend Spring and Fall Education Programs and quarterly meetings of the Founders Fellowship Committee.
- Help recruit and select new cohort of Founders Fellows by reviewing applications and recommending applicants to be interviewed, interviewing applicants, and selecting the next cohort of fellows. (Time intensive from July through September)
- Participate in Quarterly Check-In Meetings.
- Mentor a Founders Fellow.
